Fattie
A Californians Volunteer Guide to Style While in JamaicaWhat is with the title?
Fattie: Thick, curvy girl. Defined waist, round hips, and an ample bust.
Before leaving to volunteer in Jamaica I had known next to nothing about what to expect. I knew, however, that there are many misconceptions of the island merely because of how highly desired JA is as a tourist destination. In reality, Jamaica is a third-world country and still is in the process of its development. The majority of the island still lives in poverty, and the crime rate was at one time, the highest in the world. But beyond all the statistics Jamaicans are complex, intelligent and hospitable. Rich in culture and language (Patios is the unofficial language despite the dictionary definition that is often linked to an uneducated group of individuals who use slang to communicate) Jamaicans have taught me many lessons but one in particular has been that deep rooted confidence women in the US have only dreamt of having.
This blog, aside from hopefully being an inside source into what to expect while volunteering in Jamaica (that includes everything from style to culture) is the product of researching for my own up incoming return volunteer trip in 2012.
Being a curvy girl, I will be posting style ideas geared towards what will be flattering to a thicker girls body type. I will also be taking famous and not-so-famous style pictures of women, and finding cheaper alternatives with moderations that will fit a curvy body type.
